ROAD WORK ON OLD FIDDLE, HIGH ROAD & DULCIMER LN
Duke Energy is in the process of clearing tree branches around/close to the power lines. They are working their way up Old Fiddle Road and are presently by mailbox 545 (just up from Sunny's house). Some of the work vehicles are quite large, not allowing much room for oncoming traffic. Should you encounter them, please reverse direction and use an alternate route for your travel. Thank You.
They will be working on the mountain for the next several weeks or so, but their exact schedule is unknown at this time. Please be alert, courteuos and SLOW DOWN.
Old Fiddle Road Open to Traffic
Old Fiddle Road is again open to traffic. Duke Energy restored power by replacing a section of the power line and a high line fuse. When the tree fell and made contact with the power line, the tree provided a high voltage path to ground. At the pont of contact between the power line and the tree, there existed an abnormally high current draw which melted the power line in two and soon led to the fuse failure.
Many thanks to Kendall McManus (WITH Board Member) and Conner Davies (Old Fiddle Rd resident and Saunook Fire Dept volunteer) for their contacting Saunook FD, Duke Energy, managing the dangerous area aroung the work site and clearing the road of debris after power was restored. A job well done, thank you. The entire mountain community appreciates your dedication and professionalism.
